This is done when the person is unable or lives to far away to attend a healing session.  I will connect to the universal energies and send thoughts and prayers to the person or animal, but with Reiki we also use special symbols. 

Absent healing can be done by individuals and by groups of people.  Each healer will use the bases of this and then will probably vary it depending on their form of healing. 

The request does not have to come from the person who needs healing, anyone can ask for healing to be sent to another person or animal.  The person who needs the healing may or may not be aware that this healing has been undertaken, but I am sure they will obtain a lot of benefit from it.  I personally feel that the healing starts when the request has been handed to me by the concerned of the loved one, relative or friend who has much love and concern in their hearts.

It is very effective and many good results have been reported by using this method, so please do not worry if you cannot get to a healing session, just let me or your healer know that you would like absent or distant healing (which is one of the same) and I am sure they would be more than happy to do that for you.
